Carried, Not Crushed: How God Carries You

A Black woman walking along a peaceful path at sunrise, symbolizing how God carries you through a difficult season.

Have you ever felt so tired that even praying feels hard?

Not the kind of tired that sleep fixes—but the kind that settles deep in your soul. The kind where you still believe in God, still love Him, still want to trust Him, yet your strength feels thin. You keep showing up, but quietly you wonder, How much longer can I keep going like this?

If that’s you, let me say this clearly and gently:

God never asked you to carry this alone.

And here’s the truth many faithful women miss—God never expected you to be strong all the time.

So, what happens when you’re too tired to stand?
What does God do when your strength runs out?

He doesn’t step back.
He doesn’t withdraw.
He doesn’t wait for you to recover on your own.

He carries you.

God Carries Before You Collapse

God speaks a powerful promise in Isaiah 46:4:

“Even to your old age and gray hairs I am He, I am He who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.”

This verse is easy to read past—but pause for a moment and really understand what God is saying.

He doesn’t say, “I will watch you struggle.”
He doesn’t say, “I will help once you figure it out.”

He says, “I will carry you.”

Before rescue comes carrying.
Before answers come, sustaining.

God does not wait until you fall apart before stepping in. He does not stand at a distance, arms crossed, expecting you to prove your faith. When your strength fades, His presence moves closer.

You may feel weak right now—but weakness is not failure.
Weakness is often the place where God does His most faithful work.

Being Tired Does Not Mean You Lack Faith

Many women carry an unspoken guilt during hard seasons. It sounds like this:

“If my faith were stronger, I wouldn’t feel this tired.”
“If I trusted God more, this wouldn’t feel so heavy.”

But that belief is not biblical—and it’s not true.

Jesus never shamed the weary. He welcomed them.

In Matthew 11:28, Jesus says:

“Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

Notice what He doesn’t say.

He doesn’t say, “Come to Me once you fix yourself.”
He doesn’t say, “Come back when you feel strong again.”

He says, “Come.”

Your exhaustion does not scare God.
Your weariness does not disappoint Him.

In fact, Scripture shows us that weariness often draws God’s compassion closer, not farther away.

Psalm 103:13–14 reminds us:

“As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him; for He knows how we are formed, He remembers that we are dust.”

God remembers your limits—even when you forget them.

God Stays When Strength Leaves

One of the deepest fears in hard seasons is not pain—it’s abandonment.

You may not say it out loud, but your heart whispers,
What if God leaves me here?
What if I’m on my own in this?

God answers that fear clearly and directly in Hebrews 13:5:

“Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”

That word never is not conditional.

Not when you’re confident.
Not when your prayers sound strong.
Not when you feel hopeful.

Never.

Even when your faith feels fragile.
Even when your joy feels distant.
Even when all you can do is hold on quietly.

God stays.

Scripture repeatedly shows us that God is closest to the brokenhearted, the weary, and the discouraged—not because they are weak, but because they are honest.

Psalm 34:18 says:

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

Notice this—God doesn’t turn away from crushed spirits.
He draws near to them.

You Are Being Held—Even If You Don’t Feel It

Here is a truth many people struggle to accept:

Feeling carried is not required to be carried.

Sometimes God’s work is gentle and unseen. He supports you quietly. He steadies you in ways you may not notice until much later. You keep waking up. You keep moving forward. You keep breathing. You are still here—not because of your strength, but because of His faithfulness.

Isaiah 41:10 reminds us:

“Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”

To be upheld means you are not slipping.
You are not falling through the cracks.
You are not forgotten.

Even on days when faith feels quiet, God’s hands do not loosen their grip.

When Faith Feels Quiet, God Is Still Working

Some seasons are loud with praise and breakthroughs. Others are quiet, slow, and hidden.

Quiet seasons often feel confusing. You pray, but nothing seems to change. You trust God, but answers don’t come. You stay faithful, but the waiting continues.

That silence can feel heavy—but silence is not absence.

Lamentations 3:31–32 reminds us:

“For the Lord will not cast off forever. Though He brings grief, He will show compassion, so great is His unfailing love.”

God’s unfailing love does not pause during waiting seasons.
His compassion does not expire when prayers take time.

Even when you don’t see progress, God is still present.

Carried, Not Crushed

This season may feel heavy.
It may feel long.
It may feel lonely.

But heavy does not mean hopeless.

God does not crush the ones He loves.
He carries them.

He carries you through grief.
He carries you through uncertainty.
He carries you through questions that don’t yet have answers.

Romans 8:26 gives us this quiet comfort:

“In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness… the Spirit Himself intercedes for us.”

When you don’t have the words, God supplies them.
When you don’t have the strength, God supplies it.

You are not failing—you are being held.

A Gentle Reminder for Today

If today all you can do is breathe and trust God with the rest, that is enough.

You don’t need to rush ahead.
You don’t need to figure everything out.
You don’t need to explain your pain.

You only need to stay.

Psalm 27:13 says:

“I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.”

Confidence does not always look loud.
Sometimes it looks like quiet endurance.

God is not finished with you.
You are not overlooked.
You are carried.

Stay With This Series

This post begins the Carried, Not Crushed series.

In the days ahead, we will talk about:

  • Staying rooted when life feels unstable
  • Enduring without losing heart
  • Finding peace without control
  • Trusting God when answers are delayed

For now, hold on to this truth:

You may feel tired, but you are not alone.
God is holding you—right here, right now.

And He will not let you go.

Closing Prayer

A Prayer for When You’re Too Tired to Stand

Father God,
I come to You tired, worn, and in need of Your strength. You see what I carry—every burden, every silent tear, every prayer I don’t have the words to say. Thank You for reminding me that I am not alone and that You are the One who carries me.

When I feel weak, remind me that Your strength is enough. When I feel uncertain, help me trust You even without answers. Teach my heart to rest in Your presence and to believe that You are still working, even when I cannot see it.

Lord, I place this season in Your hands. Carry me where I cannot walk. Hold me when I feel unsteady. Restore my hope and renew my faith day by day.

I trust You, even here.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
