What Is Faith and Fear?
“Faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see” (Hebrews 11:1, NIV). We live by assuring God will handle the situation on our behalf. Faith is a part of the growing process in the Christian journey. We need to learn to trust and obey God’s promises.
In comparison, fear is when we are afraid about the uncertainties of what will happen, basically a negative and/or tragic event that brings unhappiness and pain. As children of God, we need to trust faith over fear because God has control of our lives. He will give us the grace to fulfill our purpose in life.
Faith over fear is when we put our trust in the goodness of God. He also foresees our future. When we have faith in God, He will help us overcome our fears and doubts.
God assures us that He will always guide us through difficult situations and will not go back on His promises. Let’s look at how to choose faith over fear.
Why We Feel Fear During Uncertain Times
We feel fear during uncertain times because of health issues, life struggles, and other situations in life. It is natural to have fear as humans, but when fear creeps in, we have to trust in God’s goodness to see us through.
Fear often happens when we have uncertainty. We get nervous and afraid of the uncertain seasons. There are reasons in this busy world to feel fear every day.
However, God equipped us with His word to help change the fear of uncertainty into faith.
Moreover, He will bless us with a peace beyond our understanding. So, let’s learn to face our fear in the Power of Jesus Christ.
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid” (John 14:27, NIV).
How Faith in God Helps Us Overcome Fear
Faith in God Helps us overcome fear when we remember that God is with us. God’s constant presence is our assurance, even when life is hard. It is essential to trust His plan even when we don’t understand the situation. In fact, some situations and happenings in life will never be understood by the human mind. It may even raise unanswered questions about what, when, how, and why. Despite not knowing the answers to some happenings (which may foster disappointment, pain, sorrow, and tears), God knows why certain events occur and allows them to happen. Still, He is always by your side and makes that clear in Scripture.
Isaiah 41:10 reminds us, “Do not fear, for I am with you.” No matter what’s going on in your life, God is constantly in control of the situation. Just trust Him and surrender all to Him to oversee.
When we trust in God, we will not be disappointed. He will change your fear into strength. We all face fear in our lives, which can overwhelm us, but when we focus on Jesus, we will find relief to conquer our fear.
The good thing is that when we know that God is beside us, we have no fear because God controls everything.
