5 Ways to Get Refilled with God’s Word and Renew Your Faith

Refilled with God’s Word – woman praying in a field at sunset, seeking spiritual renewal and peace

Are you feeling spiritually drained, mentally tired, distant, or just plain overwhelmed? The truth is, you’re not alone. Most believers walk through seasons when God feels silent, the Bible feels hard to read, and prayer feels empty. But take heart—God hasn’t gone anywhere. He’s still with us, holding us close, even when you can’t feel it. And often, when things feel the hardest, that’s when God is working behind the scenes. Your breakthrough might be closer than you think.

He lovingly calls us to return to Him and promises to restore our souls. If your heart feels empty and your faith needs a spark, it’s time to get refilled with God’s Word. God’s Word is your living water—renewing, refreshing, and reviving your spirit. This devotional will walk you through five practical, biblical ways to reconnect with God’s Word and fill you spiritually again.

1. Start Your Day with Scripture, Not Social Media

Matthew 6:33 – “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness…”

We often wake up and reach for our phones—scrolling through emails, messages, or social media. But what if we reached for the Bible first? Spending the first moments of your day with God’s Word can shape your mindset, ground your emotions, and bring peace before the day begins.

Try keeping your Bible on your nightstand. Read a Psalm or a short chapter from the Gospels. Let God speak to your heart before the noise of the world gets in. Allow God to enter your mind before the world distorts it.

2. Pray God’s Word Back to Him

1 John 5:14 – “If we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.”

Sometimes we don’t know what to say in prayer, especially during dry seasons. But Scripture gives us the words. Turn God’s Word into your personal prayer. For example, if you read Psalm 23, say: “Lord, You are my Shepherd. I’m feeling lost without you—please guide me.”

As Christians, practicing this simple act will help us connect more deeply with God and remind us of His promises. It also strengthens our confidence, knowing that when we pray His Word, we’re praying in alignment with His will, because His Word is His will.

3. Listen to the Bible or Faith-Filled Podcasts

Romans 10:17 reminds us that “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

If you’re too busy to sit down to read the Bible because your life is hectic with activities, try listening to it instead. Hearing God’s Word spoken aloud can deeply touch your heart and be very powerful.

Listen to an audio Bible while you’re driving, making dinner, or out for a walk—it’s an easy way to stay connected to God’s Word, even on your busiest days.

Also, check out Christian podcasts that teach the Word or share encouraging testimonies. When we surround ourselves with God’s truth, it strengthens our faith and keeps our hearts focused on Him. All of these small steps help you stay spiritually grounded and refilled with God’s Word.

4. Write Out and Meditate on Key Verses

Psalm 119:11 – “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.”

There’s something powerful about writing Scripture by hand. It encourages you to slow down, meditate on the words, and carry the verse deeply within your heart. You need to start by choosing one meaningful verse each day or week.

It’s essential to write it down in your journal or a sticky note, then place it on your mirror where you’ll see it every day.

Ask God, “What are You teaching me through this verse?” The more you meditate, the closer you’ll get to God.

5. Join a Bible Study or Faith Community

Matthew 18:20 – “Where two or three gather in My name, there am I with them.”

God never meant for us to walk the Christian journey alone. When we gather with other believers—whether in person or online—our faith is strengthened. And studying the Bible together creates space for learning, encouragement, and spiritual growth that makes an impact in our lives.

Also, it is crucial to find a local women’s group to join, attend an online Bible study, or invite a friend to read the Bible with you. You might be surprised how much God reveals through the support of community.

Final Encouragement:

Let me tell you this: you don’t have to do all five of these at once. Just start with one that resonates with you. God honors every small step you take toward Him. He’s not waiting for perfection—He’s waiting for your heart. Even if it’s been weeks, months, or years, God welcomes you back with open arms.

Let His Word speak life over you again, and watch how it refreshes your faith day by day. Let His Word speak life over you again and watch how your faith is refilled with God’s Word, one day at a time.
